Crisp, Cool, and Naturally Healing

This Watermelon Hibiscus Tea is summer in a cup—hydrating, refreshing, and packed with kidney-supporting herbs like hibiscus and raspberry leaf. Created by @micopeia using seeded Michigan watermelon, it blends bold flavor with real wellness benefits. Perfect for hot days and holistic sips.

Ingredients

For the Tea Blend:

  • 1/2 cup dried hibiscus petals
  • 1/4 cup red raspberry leaf
  • 2 tbsp marshmallow root
  • 2 tbsp uva ursi leaf

For the Watermelon:

  • 1 medium seeded watermelon (locally grown, if possible)
  • Optional sweetener (if needed)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Prepare the Watermelon

  • Remove the rind and slice the watermelon into small chunks.

2. Dehydrate the Fruit

  • Dehydrate at 125–135°F until completely dried.

3. Mix the Herbal Blend

  • Combine hibiscus, raspberry leaf, marshmallow root, and uva ursi in a large bowl.

4. Add Watermelon to Blend

  • Toss in the dried watermelon and mix well to create a balanced, aromatic tea.

5. Steep & Serve

  • Use 1 tbsp of blend per cup of hot water, steep for 5–7 minutes, strain, and enjoy over ice.

Pro Tips & Suggestions

  • Use seeded watermelon for richer flavor and hydration.
  • Dehydrate low and slow to preserve nutrients and sweetness.
  • Steep longer for stronger benefits, especially when using dried herbs.
  • Serve chilled with fresh mint or lemon slices for a refreshing twist.
