Crunchy, Tangy, and Totally Addictive

When it comes to Southern snacking, fried pickles are the real MVP. Crispy on the outside, juicy and tangy on the inside, they deliver the ultimate contrast in texture and flavor. Whether you’re making a game day platter or just want something salty and satisfying, this easy fried pickle recipe is always a hit.

Made with simple ingredients and a seasoned breadcrumb coating, these pickles are golden, crunchy, and ready to dip in your favorite sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 jar dill pickle chips or slices, drained and patted dry
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups breadcrumbs (panko or seasoned)
  • 1–2 tsp your favorite seasoning blend (Cajun, lemon pepper, or garlic powder)
  • Oil for frying

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Pickles

  • Drain pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Step 2: Set Up Breading Station

  • In one bowl, place flour.
  • In another, beat the eggs.
  • In a third, mix breadcrumbs with your preferred seasoning.

Step 3: Bread the Pickles

  • Dredge each pickle slice in flour, then dip in egg, and coat in seasoned breadcrumbs.
  • Press gently to ensure breadcrumbs stick well.

Step 4: Fry Until Golden

  • Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F.
  • Fry pickles in small batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Pro Tips & Serving Suggestions

  • Double dip for extra crunch: Dip back in egg and breadcrumbs for a thicker crust.
  • Serve with sauce: Ranch, comeback sauce, or spicy mayo are perfect pairings.
  • Make it spicy: Add cayenne to the breadcrumb mix for heat.
  • Try air-frying: Spray with oil and air-fry at 400°F for 10–12 minutes for a lighter version.
