If you’re a fan of McDonald’s breakfast bagel sandwiches, or you’re not able to get your hands on one, ….you’re in luck!

The History of McDonald’s Breakfast Bagel Sandwiches

McDonald’s breakfast bagel sandwiches were first introduced in 1999. They quickly became a popular item, and at one point, McDonald’s was selling over 1 million bagel sandwiches per day. However, in 2021, the sandwiches were discontinued as part of McDonald’s efforts to streamline its operations.

But guess what? You can always make your own at home.

How to Make Your Own McDonald’s Breakfast Bagel Sandwich

This recipe is easy to follow and yields a bagel that is just as delicious as the one you’d get from McDonald’s.

The key to this recipe is using high-quality ingredients. For the steak, I recommend using shaved steak or thinly sliced sirloin. For the eggs, I like to use large eggs that I scramble until they are fluffy. And for the cheese, I use American cheese because it melts so well.

The other important part of this recipe is the breakfast sauce. This sauce is made with mayonnaise, yellow mustard, lemon juice, steak sauce, dill weed, salt, and pepper. It adds a delicious flavor to the bagel, taking it to the next level.

So if you’re looking for a delicious and easy breakfast recipe, then you’ll definitely want to try this copycat McDonald’s Steak, Egg, and Cheese Bagel. It’s sure to become a new favorite!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 plain bagels, halved
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 pound shaved steak
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon dill weed

Instructions:

  1. Toast the bagels.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the steak to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes per side. Season with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, salt, and pepper.
  5. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the eggs and cook, stirring constantly, until scrambled.
  6. To assemble the sandwiches, spread the breakfast sauce on the bottom halves of the bagels. Top with the steak, eggs, cheese, and onions. Serve immediately.
