Simple to make and bursting with fresh flavors, this recipe will transform your approach to applesauce forever!


Ingredients

  • 6 apples (peeled, cored, and chopped)
  • ½ case of strawberries, hulled
  • 1 cup organic honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 bottle (16 oz) spring water

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Apples

  1. Start by peeling and coring your apples. If you don’t have an apple corer, carefully slice around the core using a knife.
  2. To prevent browning, place the peeled apples in a bowl of water while you prep the rest.

2. Cook the Apples

  1. Transfer the chopped apples into a large saucepan and pour in a bottle of spring water.
  2. Sprinkle ground cinnamon over the apples and drizzle in the organic honey.
  3. Cover the pot with a lid and let the mixture simmer over medium heat for 10–15 minutes, until the apples soften.

3. Add the Strawberries

  1. Once the apples are tender, add the hulled strawberries to the pot.
  2. Stir well and let everything simmer for another 10 minutes, allowing the strawberries to break down and blend with the apples.

4. Mash & Blend

  1. After simmering, remove the pot from heat.
  2. Using a potato masher, smash the mixture until you achieve your desired texture.
  3. For a smoother consistency, transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until silky smooth.

5. Chill & Serve

  1. Let the applesauce cool, then transfer it to a jar or airtight container.
  2. Refrigerate overnight to enhance the flavors and achieve a thicker texture.
