This One-Pot Jambalaya Pasta Will Be Your Go-To Weeknight Savior

When you’re juggling work, family, and everything in between, you need recipes that are simple, satisfying, and soulful. Enter: Jambalaya Pasta — a one-pot wonder that fuses the heart of Southern Creole cooking with the convenience of a weeknight meal. This dish is packed with flavor thanks to seasoned shrimp, spicy sausage, buttery aromatics, and bell peppers — all tossed in creamy, cheesy pasta.

This ain’t your traditional jambalaya, and that’s the magic of it. It’s a modern twist that keeps the soul food essence alive while giving your schedule a break. Whether you’re cooking for yourself or feeding a hungry family, this recipe will have everyone coming back for seconds (and thirds). And did we mention? You only need two pots — one for boiling pasta and the other for mixing the magic. No stress, no mess.

What You Need: Ingredients

For the Pasta & Protein:

  • 1 lb penne or fettuccine pasta (your choice, cooked al dente)
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 12 oz spicy andouille sausage, sliced into rounds

For the Sauce & Veggies:

  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 orange bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional but adds color!)
  • 1 cup heavy cream or half & half
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey jack, or any melty mix you love)

For the Seasoning:

  • To taste: Cajun seasoning
  • Optional: garlic powder, onion powder, paprika
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Sauté the Sausage

  • Brown the sliced andouille sausage in butter or oil over medium heat.
  • Remove it from the pan.

2. Season & Cook the Shrimp

  • Coat the shrimp with Cajun seasoning and spices.
  • Cook until pink and curled, then set aside.

3. Sauté the Aromatics

  • Melt butter, add minced garlic,
  • Toss in the bell peppers until soft and fragrant.

4. Build the Sauce

  • Pour in the cream, stir in the cheese until melted, and season to your taste.

5. Combine Everything

  • Mix the shrimp, sausage, and pasta into the sauce.
  • Let it simmer for a few minutes.

6. Serve and Enjoy

  • Scoop into bowls, garnish with cheese or parsley, and dig in while it’s hot.
