Slippery Noodles, Garlicky Butter, and Juicy Shrimp—This Bowl Brings It
These Garlic Noodles with Shrimp are salty, sticky, buttery, and straight-up craveable. It’s that kind of dish that coats your lips in flavor and keeps your fork twirling until the bowl is empty. H Frinks (@hfrinks) knew what they were doing with this one—simple ingredients layered into a bold, satisfying, umami-heavy bite that hits every time.
With garlic three ways (paste, chopped, and infused in butter), savory dark soy, and a slight sweetness from sugar and oyster sauce, this is the perfect quick weeknight comfort dish. The shrimp and optional bean sprouts add texture, while the scallion finish keeps it fresh. Eat it hot, and don’t be shy with the butter.
Ingredients
(About 2–4 servings)
- 4 oz spaghetti noodles
- ½ lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- ¼ cup bean sprouts (optional)
- ½ clove garlic, roughly chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- ⅓ cup dark soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ¼ stick butter
- Green onion/scallions, for garnish
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cook the Noodles
Boil spaghetti noodles according to package directions until al dente.
Drain and set aside. Reserve a splash of pasta water if you like things extra saucy.
2. Sauté the Garlic & Shrimp
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt.
Toss in the roughly chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant.
Add in the shrimp and season with salt and pepper. Cook until pink and opaque, about 3–4 minutes.

3. Build the Sauce
Lower the heat and stir in:
- Garlic paste
- Dark soy sauce
- Oyster sauce
- Sugar
Let it simmer for 1–2 minutes until glossy and thickened.

4. Toss It All Together
Add the cooked noodles and optional bean sprouts into the pan.
Toss to coat the noodles completely in the garlic sauce.
If it’s too thick, add a spoonful of pasta water to loosen.

5. Garnish and Serve
Plate the noodles and shrimp hot.
Top with chopped green onions or scallions and serve immediately.

Pro Tips and Serving Suggestions
- Swap spaghetti for ramen, udon, or egg noodles if that’s your vibe.
- Add a dash of chili crisp or sriracha for a spicy twist.
- Want even more umami? Throw in a splash of fish sauce or sesame oil at the end.
- Best eaten immediately—these noodles don’t like to sit around.
