Flavor-Packed Grilled T-Bone Steak for the Culture
When it comes to summer grilling or a flavor-heavy weeknight dinner, nothing hits like a juicy T-bone steak marinated with bold, savory, and sweet ingredients. This recipe, adapted from @bricookedit, brings together smoky hickory, sweet teriyaki, vibrant peppers, and classic steak seasonings to create a dish that’s rich in taste and soul.
Grilling has always been a communal event from block parties to Sunday cookouts. This T-bone steak recipe carries that legacy forward, blending modern flavor with traditional flair. Whether you’re grilling for your family or flexin’ for guests, this recipe will have folks asking for seconds.
Ingredients List (What You Need)
- T-bone steaks (cleaned and trimmed)
- Garlic powder
- Montreal steak seasoning
- Seasoning salt
- Garlic salt
- Sweet brown sugar Kraft BBQ sauce
- Sweet Baby Ray’s Hickory and Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce
- Sweet teriyaki sauce (or marinade)
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1 white onion, sliced
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prep and Clean the Steak
Start by thoroughly cleaning your T-bone steaks under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels. This helps remove any excess blood or debris and ensures the seasonings stick well.
2. Season Generously
In a large container or bowl, season the steaks with garlic powder, Montreal steak seasoning, seasoning salt, and garlic salt. Use your hands to rub the spices into the meat for even coating. Don’t be shy with the seasoning—flavor is key here!
3. Chop the Veggies
Slice your green and red bell peppers into strips. Dice the green onion and slice the white onion. These veggies will add flavor to the marinade and a beautiful finish to your steak.
4. Make the Marinade
In a bowl, combine Kraft’s sweet brown sugar BBQ sauce, Sweet Baby Ray’s hickory and brown sugar BBQ sauce, and your favorite sweet teriyaki sauce. Mix until smooth. Add in the chopped peppers and onions, stirring until everything is coated.
5. Marinate the Meat
Pour the marinade mixture over the seasoned steaks. Mix well to ensure each piece is fully coated with the sauce and vegetables. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (overnight is even better!).
6. Fire Up the Grill
Preheat your grill to high heat. Make sure it’s nice and hot before adding the steaks. This sears the outside and locks in moisture.
7. Grill to Perfection
Place the marinated steaks on the grill. Cook each side for 5–7 minutes depending on your preferred level of doneness. Baste with leftover marinade while grilling for an extra flavor boost.
8. Serve and Enjoy
Remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes. Top with the grilled veggies and serve hot. These steaks pair perfectly with potato salad, corn on the cob, or baked mac & cheese.

Include a photo of the finished grilled steaks, ideally with the caramelized peppers and onions on top. A juicy, close-up shot enhances visual appeal.
