National Indian Pudding Day
February 17, 2024
National Indian Pudding Day is observed each year on November 13. This day honors a cold-weather classic, Indian pudding. It was in the seventeenth century that English colonists brought hasty pudding to North America and completely transformed it.
The dish has its origins in 16th century England where a similar version was made called “Hasty Pudding.” 17th-century colonists brought the hasty pudding recipe to the Americas and quickly found that an integral ingredient, wheat, was not as readily available in this new land.
