What is National Ice Cream Day? National Ice Cream Day is a day to celebrate one of our favorite desserts. According to President Ronald Reagan who issued the Presidential Proclamation for this day, “ice cream is a nutritious and wholesome food, enjoyed by over ninety percent of the people in the United States.
Origin: In 1984, Senator Walter Dee Huddleston of Kentucky sponsored a bill to designate July 15, 1984 as National Ice Cream Day. The bill was passed by the Senate on May 17, 1984 and signed by President Ronald Reagan on July 2, 1984. The bill also designated July 1984 as National Ice Cream Month.
