SUMMARY:National Mulled Cider Day
DESCRIPTION:National Hot Mulled Cider Day is celebrated on September 30th. It’s a day to celebrate the arrival of fall with the scent of cinnamon\, nutmeg\, and apple. \nOrigin: The history of hot mulled cider bears remarkable similarities to the old pagan tradition called Wassailing. The word ‘wassail’ comes from the Anglo-Saxon phrase ‘waes hael’\, which means ‘good health’. The wassail was a drink made of mulled ale\, curdled cream\, roasted apples\, eggs\, cloves\, ginger\, nutmeg and sugar. It was served from huge\, 10-gallon bowls\, often made of silver or pewter. This originally came from a story about a young beautiful maiden presenting the drink to Prince Vortigen\, saying the words “waes hael” in a toast. The term wassailing refers to the act of the bowl being carried into the room with great splendor\, a traditional carol about wassailing and then the beverage was served.

SUMMARY:National Quesadilla Day
DESCRIPTION:Quesadillas were likely invented in the southern regions of Mexico where Aztecs would have made corn tortillas. It’s unclear exactly who started filling these corn tortillas with cheese. While some have suggested that the quesadilla might have been brought to the West from Spain\, it’s more likely that it originated right in Mexico. \nOrigin: National Quesadilla Day (Dia de la Quesadilla) was founded in 2020 by V&V Supremo\, which is an American company that makes cheese and other Mexican products. The idea for the day is simply to show affection and honor for this little food that can act as a snack or an entire meal.

SUMMARY:National Bacon Day
DESCRIPTION:Bacon is a very popular food in the USA. In 2020\, over half of the U.S. population said they used a pound or more bacon that year. You can also find many items flavored or scented with bacon\, including popcorn\, soap\, candles\, air fresheners\, and much more. While these uses fit right into the day\, we suggest cooking with bacon. \nOrigin: National Bacon Day was created in 1997 by Danya “D” Goodman and Meff “Human Cannonball” Leonard as a way to celebrate bacon and take a break from traditional winter holidays.
